Collaborations are the best. Naturally, when there are two or more strong design partners creating something fun, such as fashion! Weekday is one of those chains that's really on it, what comes to digging new creative talents into their design team.
Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts is one of the world’s prestigious design schools. This year’s graduates include Cédric Jacquemyn, Mariel Manuel and Matthieu Thouvenot. In collaboration with Weekday each of them has created a collection that defines their own expression.
Below, my favorite pick out of the three designers for Weekday - Mariel Manuel.
The collections are available now, in all Weekday stores.
I did recently a shoot in Stockholm, where the makeup artist, Sophia caught my attention with her comfy and distinctive style. When I get working in photo-shoots, my attire usually consists of a pair of stretchy jeans (so I can easily knee over), a t-shirt (navy blue, or black are the best color options, because you can't avoid getting them dirty) and a hoodie/shirt/cardigan that's open from the front (easy access to remove them fast). And because you move around so much, you also have to make sure not to wear anything too thick or heavy...
Anyways, Sophia was dressed for her work day casually, comfortably and yet managed to look amazing.
RH is a new womenswear label by Hanna Riiheläinen and Emilia Hernesniemi. Their S/S 2011 collection consists of colorful prints, playful details, and feminine cuts. Love the ease of their clothes. Simple silhouettes, but their smart details and prints makes the designs edgy an personal.
If I had to describe the collection in three words, they would be: Cool, sexy and clever.
Exactly the way I like my girls to be!
