Stockholm's fashion week day two started with
Lagom's S/S 2011 collection. Held at the glamorous
Berns hotel (where we were lucky to stay for our complete 3-day fashion week).
Because I happen to be a huge fan of combining different cultural elements in design, clothing and styling, this particular collection found its place in my heart. Delicate knits, thin cotton, and chiffon were decorated with vivid orange and baby blue prints. I love the ease of the clothing. Comfortable and wearable - yet authentic. The styling of bright, and colorful ethnic scarves wrapped around heads, shoulders and waist made the traditional culture meet the modern.
Below, details of hair & make up. Beaded belts and scarves in Masai red. Shoes were decorated with colorful leather straps and beads.
The background of Lagom is interesting. Designer Nette Sanström and designer/musician Daniel Adams-Ray started working together in the aim of creating stage clothes for Daniel's band. The process led Lagom to born in 2005. The designers told this collection to be inspired ''by a glimpse of dawn in Nairobi, Kenya''. When asking more about the inspiration behind the collection, designer Daniel says his child hood years in Kenya inspired him greatly. The designers have used woven fabrics from Kenya and Tanzania with chiffon and viscose. Patterns influenced by animals such as Leopard, Giraffe and Colibri Hummingbirds. The bright color palette is drawn from the clothing of Masai people and the beautiful scenery of the Savannah, and African nature.
Today the brand is headed up by the creative team Daniel Adams-Ray, Jakob Hedberg and Nette Sandström. Above designers Nette Sandström and Daniel Adams-Ray.
