London Show Rooms in New York

Designer Heikki Salonen was one of the London’s leading emerging fashion talents to present his A/W 2010 collection in New York. I stopped by Soho Grand yesterday to view Heikki Salonen's second season's collection. Among Salonen other designers presenting their collections were: Louise Gray, Hannah Marshall, Maria Francesca Pepe, Peter Pilotto, Mark Fast, Holly Fulton &
Mary Katrantzou (just to name a few).

I'm pretty sure this event was a success - for the London designers and for the U.S editors and buyers. The wide range of different designers - all extremely interesting -  to see and feel their work, was so inspirational. Below few images of Heikki Salonen's A/W 2010 collection. Inspiration for this bad-ass collection was seeked from the 1990s cult movie Leon. Natalie Portman's character's style was brought alive again with puffy bomber jackets, topped with round, red-tinted sunglasses. Loved how Salonen described the growth of the character in his collection. From a young teenager to a woman, practicing her calling as a hitman. You can totally see this evolution in his collection, from grounchy-girly looks to fierce and feminine ones.
Few of my favorite pieces of the collection below:

On my shopping list.

Incredible details. In love with these pants!
jacket salonen
Bomber jacket & dress. The jacket is actually a vest on top of the dress. The sleeves are attached with zippers into the dress, which can be taken off.
aviator dress
Amazingly soft 'aviator' dress made of lambskin. Fabulous details.

Below few catwalk photos, since photographing garments on hangers doesn't do the justice to these beautiful pieces.
